Kaizen software, also sold as continuous improvement software, gives every employee a simple way to suggest an improvement and gives leaders a way to respond, test and track it. Most tools also support kaizen events and digital kaizen boards, so small daily changes and focused workshops live in one place.

The basics
Kaizen software helps an organization collect improvement ideas, decide on them quickly and track each one to a result. Some tools also manage kaizen events and A3s.
Kaizen means continuous improvement by everyone. Masaaki Imai brought the term to a wide audience in his 1986 book on the subject.
Most tools focus on the idea pipeline: submit, review, trial, check and standardize. That is a PDCA cycle for each idea.
An idea board on the wall, reviewed weekly by the team lead, is a good start. It makes the response time visible to everyone.
Software helps when ideas come from many teams, shifts or sites. It also lets frontline staff submit from a phone or kiosk, and share results widely.

How the listed tools are priced
Idea management software is mainly the front end: collecting, voting on and routing ideas. Some idea management tools are built for large innovation campaigns rather than small changes made by frontline teams.
Continuous improvement software usually goes further. It takes an idea through a PDCA cycle, records the result, and often adds A3s, kaizen events and reporting on what improvement delivered.
If your goal is daily kaizen by everyone, look for fast submission and a short path from idea to trial. Campaign features matter less.
A kaizen event is a focused workshop, usually a few days long, where a small team improves one process. Kaizen event software holds the charter, team, baseline measures, agenda and the action list that follows the event.
The follow-up is where events often fail. Look for a tool that keeps open actions visible after the workshop ends and records the measures again at a set review date. The kaizen event guide covers the full agenda.
A kaizen board shows improvement ideas in columns such as new, in progress and done, and is reviewed at the team huddle. A digital kaizen board does the same on a shared screen, tablet or phone.
Digital boards help when teams work across shifts or sites, or when leaders want one view of ideas from many teams. Some teams run them alongside their daily management software, so ideas and daily problems are reviewed together.
